Martin Kemp Owned Jacket (UK)

A red suede jacket previously owned by Spandau Ballet's Martin Kemp. It features slits along the back and front panels with lace up details to the cuffs. There is a belt with pouch and previously the jacket would have been laced closed though the cord is missing. The jacket was obtained by a member of The International Spandau Ballet Club who ran a competion in 1986. Martin can be seen wearing the jacket in the Spandau Ballet video for The Freeze which can be seen here.

The jacket measures 48cm (19 inches) from armpit to armpit and 93cm (36.5 inches) from the back of the neck to the hem. There is tearing to two of the slits on the left front panel and to one on the back. There are signs of wear to the coat. The condition is very good minus.

Provenance: accompanied by a typed letter from The International Spandau Ballet Club which reads:

'Congratulations

Dear Debbie

You have today been picked as one of our winners of our Christmas Competition. As you have chosen Martin Kemp as your favourite member of the band you have won his item of clothing.

Enclosed please find a Suede Jacket, which Martin used to wear many years ago in Spandau's early days.

Well congratulations, we hope you like your prize.'

A handwritten letter from the recipient also comes with the jacket.
