A black and white photograph of Stuart Sutcliffe taken by Astrid Kirchherr in Hamburg in the 1960s. The print was developed from the original negative in the 1990s. It has been signed by Astrid on the reverse in pencil. There is a copyright stamp on the reverse. The photographic career of Astrid Kirchherr began when she started art school as a student at Meisterschule fur Mode, Werkschule fur Textil, Grafik und Werbung in 1957. Under the tutelage of photography teacher Reinhart Wolf Astrid expanded her photographic knowledge and skills. She was soon invited to be Wolf's studio assistant.
The print measures 58.8cm x 46.7cm (23.2 inches x 18.3 inches). There is some creasing to the corners. The condition is very good.
