Two pages that have been taken from an autograph book signed by The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Jimi Hendrix has signed one page, adding the word ‘Love’ above his name, there is an additional unidentifiable signatory on this page. Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding have autographed the other page, both have added the word ‘Love’ above their respective signatures. The autographs were obtained at the Fillmore East, New York on 10th May 1968.
Provenance: accompanied by a letter from the original recipient that reads:
‘Whilst a student at The High School Of Music & Art in NYC as a Drums & Percussion major, I worked at a clothing store called 'The Different Drummer". All the musicians that came to perform at the Filmore East venue in Manhattan during the "British Invasion" came to the store for unique stage gear. As a D&P student I was offered the opportunity to work as an assistant backstage drum tech for the 10 May 1968 first performance of the Experience at the venue. Jimi & Co. destroyed the house with "Wild Thing and "Purple Haze". My friend, a longtime employee who had secured me the job and his girlfriend had both gotten autographs. I was able to trade him a 1 oz. block of Red Lebanese Hashish that I happened to be holding at the time for one of them. I also met and spoke with Mitch Mitchell who encouraged me to never give up my studies, and I went on to a successful run as a session drummer. Still drumming well to this day, as a retired Executive Chef at age 72. Keith Smith’.
Each page measures 7.6cm x 10.5cm (3 inches x 4.1 inches). There is some staining to the page that Jimi has signed.
Please note that the autographs have been laminated between plastic.
