A one page double sided letter in the hand of Eric Clapton’s mother Patricia Clapton. It was sent from Eric’s childhood home 1 The Green, Ripley, Surrey at some point between 1966 and 1969 and reads:
‘Dear Doreen, Thank you for your letter. I looked for you last night, but did not see you. It was so terribly crowded wasn’t it I met Georgio & lots of other people I know but it was like looking for a needle in a haystack to try & find anyone. I thought the Cream were fantastic I enjoyed Eric’s singing. Yes the L.P is great & its [sic] doing well in the charts. Thank you for the nice card you sent me do hope you enjoyed you’re [sic] holiday, we are going away this Saturday for a week, only going to Coombe [sic] Martin but hope this lovely weather lasts.
Bye for now Mrs Clapton’.
The letter measures 11.5cm x 17.75cm (4.5 inches x 7 inches). The condition is excellent.
