Provenance: accompanied by a letter from the recipient which reads: 'In 1966 when Jimi Hendrix first came to London, I joined with a friend making clothes for Jim, his Band and others. My main contribution was painting on silk waistcoats (although not the famous one on the album cover). After reading Noel (Redding's) book about the Hendrix years, I wrote to Niek and he was good enough to reply and we shared a few correspondences. Alas, I never got to visit him in Ireland.'
