A French colour Brigitte Bardot postcard autographed on the reverse by John Lennon red ballpoint pen.

John Lennon had long held a flame for Brigitte Bardot. In May 1968 the Beatles publicist Derek Taylor arranged a meeting with Brigitte at the Mayfair Hotel in London but apparently, it turned out a disaster! John’s closest friend Pete Shotten said that Lennon had said to him that the thought of meeting Bardot in the flesh had made him so nervous and anxious that he took LSD beforehand. John reportedly told Pete Shotten “The only thing that I said to (Bardot) all night was ‘Hello’ when we went to shake hands with her. Then she spent the whole time talking French with her friends and I could never think of anything to say. It was a terrible night – worse than meeting Elvis.” John couldn’t speak French and Brigitte's English was very poor. She had arranged dinner at a local restaurant but feeling rejected Lennon made his excuses and left for home, leaving the puzzled French actress and her party behind. John later described the meeting: “Met with Brigitte a few years later. I was on acid, she was on her way out.”

The postcard measures 14.8cm x 10.5cm (5.75 inches x 4.1 inches). The condition is very good.
