Collection Of Mersey Beat Papers Formerly Owned by Johnny Guitar (UK)

A collection of 28 Mersey Beat music papers ranging from issue Vol.2 No.46 April 25th – May 9th 1963 to issue Vol.3 No.115 February 20th 1965.

Mersey Beat was founded in the early sixties by Bill Harry who was one of John Lennon’s classmates at the Liverpool Art College. It not only carried stories and photographs of Merseyside based groups and artists but also contained general coverage of the music scene in the UK. The paper heavily promoted The Beatles and ran many exclusive stories and photographs of John, Paul, George and Ringo.

Each issue measures approximately 29cm x 45cm (11.5 inches x 17 inches). The majority of the issues have wear and tear to the spines. The condition ranges from very good minus to very good.

Provenance: from the collection of Rory Storm and The Hurricanes guitarist, Johnny ‘Guitar’ Byrne. Comes with a Tracks Ltd. certificate of authenticity.
