Derek Taylor British Army Identity Card And Rank Insignia (UK)

An original British Army Identity Card for The Beatles Press Officer Derek Taylor. The card was issued on 7th September 1953 and has been completed by Derek listing his full name, date of birth, hair and eye colour, rank, sex and army number. The card contains a black and white photograph of Derek that has been signed by himself. Also included in this lot are two insignia cloth patches, one for the rank of Sergeant and one for Lance Corporal. The items are accompanied by a letter dated 8th July 1954 from Derek’s auntie Ethel. It is addressed to him at the RAEC Durranhill Camp, Carlisle and, amongst other things, she thanks him for some gifts he sent and tells him about a holiday they were currently enjoying.

The Identity card measures 10.5cm x 8cm (4.25 inches x 3 inches). The condition is very good plus. The larger insignia patch measures approximately 15cm x 8cm (6 inches x 3 inches). The condition is very good. The letter measures 12cm x 16cm (4.75 inches x 6.25 inches). The condition is very good.
