A pair of original film reels containing the advert David Bowie filmed made to promote the Luv ice lolly in 1969. The 35mm negative reels are housed in two cannisters each bearing stickers and handwritten notes with the contents. The advert can be seen here.

The advert, directed by acclaimed auteur Ridley Scott, was for an ice lolly called ‘Luv’ created by Lyons Maid to rival the 'Fab' lolly. It was marketed towards young girls and was sold with pop cards which were attached to the packaging and were perfect for collecting. Bowie, being virtually unknown at the time of filming, was pursuing acting roles alongside his music career and it appears that director Ridley Scott noticed Bowie's potential and cast him to appear as the musician he would later become.

The larger cannister measures 18.3cm (7.2 inches) in diameter. The smaller cannister measures 12.5cm (5 inches) in diameter. There is wear to each of the cannisters, the condition is very good minus. The condition of the reels is near mint.
